The power of the #BlackLivesMatter movement lies in its adoption of a multitude of tactics to achieve its goals. At Political Accountability & Outreach, we oversee BLM's outreach with government and elected officials. We also do work promoting voter awareness and participation. This includes publishing voter guides to keep the public informed about the people running for office in their areas, conducting our round-table series to keep candidates accountable on important community issues, and, in the future, an awareness campaign to help prevent voter disenfranchisement.

Much like our 2018 primary and midterm Candidate Questionnaires and Candidate Voter's Guide, we will be evaluating primary candidates for Monroe County/Bloomington elections. We complete this work by sending ALL candidates our questionnaire, compiling their responses here for you to read, and creating an assessment sheet on the candidates based on their answers to our questions, providing you a quick reference for election day.

2018 Midterm Voter Guide
In September 2018, midterm candidates received a questionnaire covering issues vitally important to the black community’s health and well-being. Black Lives Matter has evaluated and rated each candidate’s responses for voters. We also considered participation in "A Seat at the Table: Midterm Candidate Discussions" and candidate backgrounds. Full responses from all candidates are available below. These scores are provided to voters for informational purposes. Black Lives Matter does NOT endorse specific candidates.
